Book Discussions

The main purpose of spiritual reading and discussion is not indoctrination, but spiritual and mental stimulation. We will discover spiritual classics from past generations, as well as current writings regarding the spiritual life. A Jacob book discussion group will allow you to expand your palette in regards to spiritual authors and subjects that you may not normally choose on your own. The discussions are vigorous and challenging, but also encouraging.

Examples of possible book choices are as follows: The Pursuit of God (A.W. Tozer), The Return of the Prodigal Son (Henri Houwen), Testament of Devotion (Thomas Kelly), and Practicing the Presence of God (Brother Lawrence).

Our next book discussion group will meet on Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 PM for 6 weeks on these dates in 2017: February 16, 23, March 2, 9, 16, and 23. We will be reading and discussing the book Turn My Mourning Into Dancing by Henri Nouwen. Please purchase the book prior to the start of the group. We will meet at Crossroads Church, 312 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, PA 18411
